Make candy like the pioneers with these 3 ingredients!
Ingredients:
1/4 cup of maple syrup
A candy thermometer, not necessary but handy!
What You Do:
Pour syrup into a small saucepan and heat on medium-low until boiling. Heat until the temperature reaches 235 degrees on a candy thermometer (this shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes).
While you wait for syrup to boil, add a thick layer of snow to a baking sheet. Pack the snow tightly and make sure that it’s 2 inches thick. The boiling candy will melt through the snow, and you don’t want it to melt all the way to the bottom of the pan and stick.
Use a spoon to drizzle pools of hot syrup onto the snow (about 1-2 tsp of syrup per “pool”). Let the candy set and cool for 2-3 minutes.
Enjoy!
